Soroptimist International of Trenton Area Fashion Show

Trenton Area Soroptimists held their premiere fundraising event, "Designs to Desserts:  A Fashionable Affair," on April 9 at Crystal Gardens of Southgate.  More than 200 guests enjoyed the dessert buffet and refreshments before the show.  Energizing music complemented the evening's entertainment.

Cato Fashions of Woodhaven showcased their ensembles and accessories for the very young and "young-at-heart," including casual, business, and dressier outfits. The twenty-two models ranging in age from pre-school to senior citizens were styled by The Beauty Lounge and Boutique in Wyandotte.  Bella Donna Bridal and Jim's Formal Wear, also in Wyandotte, added to the style variety for proms and weddings.  Trina Miller, a contestant on "Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition 2013," was a celebrity model.

Door prizes and raffles of more than fifty merchandise items and gift cards donated by local businesses were included in the festivities, as well as a 50/50 drawing.  Proceeds from this debut event will benefit First Step, a domestic violence center; Vista Maria's capital campaign for shelter and services for adolescent trafficking victims; and breast cancer awareness, prevention, and treatment.  Soroptimist International of Trenton Area is a service organization of hard-working women dedicated to improving the physical, mental, and emotional health and lives of women and girls.
