Protect Our Children From Predators - A Free Symposium Focusing on Human Trafficking
Soroptimist International of Trenton Area is presenting a free public symposium focusing on Human Trafficking in the United States. More specifically, Human Trafficking in Michigan. The event will consist of 10 minute presentations by subject matter experts. The Panel will consist of representatives from the University of Michigan Law Clinic; State of Michigan Internet Crimes Against Children, First Step S.A.N.E. (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) and Local Law Enforcement Agencies. A Q & A session will follow the presentations. Human Trafficking is a form of modern day slavery and estimated to be a $32 million global industry. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, human trafficking has become the second fastest growing criminal industry in the nation, second only to drugs. Trafficking can no longer be thought of as only happening in other countries.
More About Trenton Village Theatre
The Trenton Village Theatre is a performing arts center located on West Jefferson Avenue and is home to the Downriver Youth Performing Arts Center. The nonprofit group manages the center through a lease with city of Trenton and offers a 350 seat theater for various productions during the year. The DYPAC works closely with the community and stages productions with young people ages 5 to 19 and also offers a Fine Arts Camp during the summer. The group also performs for local service organizations, charitable causes, and community events. The theater facility can be rented for numerous occasions, including special events and fundraisers.
