Henry Ford board members voted against the multi-billion-dollar deal Tuesday afternoon.

The Beaumont and Henry Ford health systems merger has been called off after "different perspectives" emerged about the $6.4-billion deal. Henry Ford board of trustees' decision Tuesday followed six months of due diligence discussions involving hundreds of Beaumont and Henry Ford team members, according to Beaumont. “We have benefited greatly from our merger discussions and have great respect for our colleagues at Henry Ford,” said Gene Michalski, president and CEO, Beaumont Health System. “However, we found through our discussions that we are not aligned on how to achieve our vision for a model health system due to differences in our structures and business models.” In a letter to employees, Henry Ford CEO Nancy Schlichting wrote the …

I'm not sure where you got your stats from, but the safety rating for Beaumont is not at a "C+". Both the Troy and Grosse Pointe locations are rated as "A", and Royal Oak a "B". Henry Ford Detroit and W. Bloomfield are rated as "C", and their Macomb and Wyandotte locations a "B". I work at Beaumont. It's a good place to work. It's not perfect, but then again "perfect" doesn't exist anywhere that …   more ›

Trenton Resident Opens Hookah Lounge in Wyandotte

La Perle Hookah Lounge opened in August 2012. The owners said they are happy with the business they have had so far.

La Perle Hookah Lounge owners, Sanaa Rizk and Anja Dinion, said they are pleased with their first few months of business in Wyandotte. The hookah lounge opened in August 2012. Dinion is from Trenton and they decided on the location in Wyandotte with hopes to draw large crowds to their business. They are located at 121 Maple Street and are open from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. every day. "Business has been very good," Rizk said. "We have seen an increase in familar faces, which means we have regulars and that is good." She said they have non-Wyandotte residents at the hookah lounge often. "We have people from all over the area. It's nice to know we're attracting some people not from right here. We have some regulars from Dearborn and other neighboring…
