Something we must always remember!

I thought the cute little mouse was from Oklahoma looking around the ground at the sticks that usedRead More to be his city, then I noticed the pencil.

Couldn’t agree more! There’s often a silver lining in every dark cloud, though it may beRead More difficult to see at the time. http://troy.patch.com/blog_posts/no-maverick-molecules-brain-tumor-and-depression Sometimes you can see blessings in hindsight; God’s faithfulness in bringing you through difficult times. He is faithful even if He chooses not to heal you on earth.

Uh, the Bruins scored the goal that made it 4-2 with about TEN minutes left in the game.
Crew May 18, 2013 at 09:15 pm
And to call Joffrey Lupul a "perennial all-star" would be a stretch to say the least. DoRead More you even WATCH hockey?
Scott Decker June 16, 2013 at 11:23 am
@ Crew: Actually I DO watch hockey. If you would have seen the tear Lupul went on when he returnedRead More from an injury in mid March, by scoring 2 goals a game night-in and night-out you might see where I'm coming from. Excuse me for having an opinion. No need to bite my head off over it.

As someone who has lost her mother to Breast cancer when my mom was 36 (my age now), I stronglyRead More suggest using whatever resources you have to make sure you are on top of things. My mom had a mammogram and it didn't find anything. Two months later she was stage 4 (by finding her own lump/symptoms). So, if you have a family history (which we didn't), and the ability to get checked out then do so. That way you can make an informed decision. Not everyone would go the same route with the knowledge. Maybe if you find you have that mutation you will just closely monitor the situation instead of being so "proactive" in care. Either way, the means are out there; use them! Costs have been going down and there are resources to help

Agreed. If my mother had ever talked this way about something I did for her - a homemade breakfastRead More in bed or a handmade gift - I would've been crushed. My feelings would've been so, so hurt. But, hey, now Ms. Barnsdale's children can read on the internet about how their their gestures of love aren't good enough and make their mother angry.
Dawn Barnsdale April 30, 2013 at 02:30 pm
Wow! I always love a good stick up their butt person who can't see humor! My DAUGHTER and two SONS,Read More which I affectionately call my spawn, crotchfruit, etc. know exactly what I want. They also know that thousands of homemade art projects, hand-prints etc are dear to me and in my cedar chest- never to be forgotten. They also know that I do not like breakfast in bed- the gesture was sweet, and I smiled and thanked them for their efforts each time they did it- but have since told them it's not my favorite. Since I am honest with my kids they aren't "crushed" nor are they upset in any way. They just come up with different ideas. You two are so completely ridiculous- that you actually think I would be so cruel as to mock a gift from my kids? My kids, who, if you read anymore of my blog you would know are the center of my universe? Again- it's called a sense of humor.....you both should get one. Oh, FYI, my children were sitting with me when I wrote this and then I read it to them. My 10 year old (who is autistic, BTW, and ANY gesture he makes especially spontaneously is more than well loved) said- "Well then, I am going to take you to breakfast AND lunch." good thinking kid. And my teenager laughed and threatened me with half frozen, half burnt Eggo waffles at 6:00 A.M. So, they won't be reading it on the internet, LOL! Even my CHILDREN have a better sense of humor than 2 grown ass women.... Thanks for commenting though- I needed my giggle for the day!

I busted out laughing when I read this! Too funny and well written. Thanks for the good start to myRead More morning:)
Angry Harry May 13, 2013 at 03:55 pm
So if I read this correctly “This is absolutely gendered violence” this law is writtenRead More strictly for women to persecute men? Way to go HAVEN My ex-wife assaulted me with nails to the face, a failed kick to the groin and spastic attempts to punch and claw me followed by slamming our daughters arm in a door. I grabbed her by her neck to subdue her. she called her mother (who coincidentally railroaded her ex with false accusations and stole his business) to call 911. I ended up in jail, divorced (at her command), robbed of my children, stuck with the bills, forclosed on and a $1700.00 a month stipend for child support which she used for a house, a hummer , an expedition and who knows what? Men in this state need to unite and recognize groups like HAVEN are focused towards the destruction of Michigan families through one-sided laws written for pre-determined guilt. I’m not saying strangling anyone shouldn’t be a felony but when HAVEN feminists are the lobbyists for these things and smugly proclaim that “MEN ARE THE ONLY GUILTY PARTY” it drives the gears in Michigans failed family courts towards a means to an end for women to opt out of marriage at any time for any reason (Like my ex) and simply make an accusation that’s so loaded with focused animosity towards the accused that we MEN stand no chance. The police will not ask for proof of being strangled, they will simply say “I can see the marks” just so they can put someone away and diffuse the situation.
That Guy May 16, 2013 at 07:08 pm
Wow, Angry Harry, you sure do live up to your name.
Greg Pendergrast May 16, 2013 at 08:44 pm
After reading what happened to Angry, I can't say that I blame him. When a woman grows tired of youRead More in this state, she can have you thrown out of your home, your children taken away and most of your earnings confiscated. She needs no proof to take out a personal protection order against you. He choked me officer, he hit me, he was yelling at me, he beat the kids. No one cares about the man or believes his side on anything, certainly not the Police or Friend of the Court. FOC are in place to suck out your life force, leaving you with barely enough energy/money to get up in the morning and go to work, if you didn't lose your job due to the antics of the woman. I do side with Angry Harry.

This is a great cause! So many schools are cutting back on recess and gym time because of theRead More massive amount of testing going on in k-12 education. Districts are carving prep time out of recess and gym, effectively sacrificing our children's health for their ability to score well on tests that are not accurate measures of achievement.

Have fun! Looking forward to reading more!

Thanks Jason. We look forward to bringing readers more. Next, how Singapore brought public gardensRead More to a whole new level.

Melody, Thank you for the compliment. I am a father to 3 sons, and I can not imagine the heartacheRead More your whole family must feel, and I am truly sorry for your loss. What Greg & Missy have done since Kelsey's death is truly heroic, and I am determined to do my part, and help make Michigan the 11th state to adopt the Kelsey Smith Act. Again, thank you for your comment...
Bryan Bentley May 6, 2013 at 06:07 pm
Wonderfully written Sandra...
Bryan Bentley May 6, 2013 at 06:13 pm
For those following Kelsey's story, yesterday, West Virginia became the 10th state to adopt theRead More Kelsey Smith Act. I can also say that State Representative Kurt Heise, who represents Plymouth Township, has shown interest in the Kelsey Smith Act. I spoke with both Greg and Missy Smith today, and they are going to send me the exact wording of the Kelsey Smith Act to be forwarded on to Mr. Heise for review. I would like to thank Mr. Heise for his time in reading about Kelsey, and his quick response to my emails. We will get this done.

I trust in Founders. They make some delicious beers and will represent Michigan well. I'm leaningRead More towards the Wheat IPA for my vote! Which one sounds best to you?
Tony Lollio May 1, 2013 at 04:53 pm
You can survive an entire Michigan winter on nothing but their porter

I want to see a pure Michigan commercial highlighting our top craft beer position in theRead More country– Showcase them all Bells, Shorts, Founders, etc… We are a Beer lovers Mecca second to none.

We have people canvassing our neighborhood to do energy audits. When I call DTE, they tell me theyRead More have "no one in your neighborhood doing this". They have ID, but anyone can make up ID's. Just say "no" and tell them if you want their audit, you will call DTE. Better safe than sorry. Same thing goes with phone solicitations....

Birgit, you are so right! Troy Public Library and Friends of the Troy Public Library are wonderfulRead More community resources that have always encouraged patrons to reduce, reuse and recycle. FYI, the Friends of Troy Public Library has a fantastic Used Book Shop in the lower level of the library Saturdays 10-1 and Sundays 1-4. https://www.facebook.com/friendstpl

Royal Oak's library could easily have the same. All it needs is for the city commissioners and mayorRead More to stop crying in their beer claiming Royal Oak cannot find sufficient funds while new bars mushroom overnight with their blessings. I do not entirely blame the commission, they just do the bidding of downtown as you can plainly see by the condition of the library and the park/ashtray. There is no interest for a community oriented downtown, or to even to establish a smoke free area around the library and park where children frequent.
