Hi Kyle! I wish I had a great idea but I have a small one. One thing is to keep a database of residents who would like to volunteer their time as things come up in the city (I'm not aware of one). I participated in building the playground on Harrison. That was fun and I would love to do more things for the city. The problem is I don't always know when something is going on (as I'm sure many people out there do not). The Patch helps but sometimes I miss things on here too. So maybe keep a database and send emails or calls to locals who want to help as needs arise. For example, if the food pantry is short on volunteers or has a special need during holidays they could go to the list and see if they can get more people involved. Someone could send me an email (like the United Way does) and say we need people these days and times. I could help by sending emails out or even keeping track of the database. So many people are on facebook and maybe there could be an official site to get more people involved. If there already is something great; I want to be added. :-)
Also, I know the city is having budget issues (as all around here are) and if there are things people can do to help for free as opposed to paying for an outside company, let us know. Or maybe there are elderly or handicap that need a hand and they can sign up for help and be matched with locals wanting to help. Ok, I have to get back to work. :-)

Michelle:
Thank you for yoru comments. As a matter of fact, I want to have a volunteer office, so that we can coordinate efforts for events. You are on the same mind set, as I and I love it. Thank you for your volunteer efforts on the playground builld. I see many families utilizing that play area. I am wanting to also join efforts with the court, as there are many who need to do community service and need a cause or event. So thank you again and keep thinking outside the box!

If you could, call my office and leave me a number where I can reach you to talk about this (675-6500). I had another call today about the same issue. Have you talked to Larry Leapley, Superintendent of Schools about the issue or a school board member?

Hi Kyle! What about working with our local businesses and residents who find themselves unemployed with employment when available? Might keep our residents here longer and the tax base current? Opinions? I would also be willing to volunteer on something like this as well.

I have something in the works, but it will take a little time. I will record your name of people that would like to get involved and hope we can put something together soon.
Keep the ideas coming!

I'm so proud to be a part of this great conversation between Mayor Kyle Stack and the great people of Trenton. Keep it up everyone! Change starts with an idea. What are some other ideas for Mayor Stack?

Hi! This may be a good way to recruit and track volunteers as activities come up around town. http://volunteer.truist.com/ The United Way of SE MI uses this site.

Hello Kyle!
I like that we have somewhere to give ideas and suggestions.....
Is there talk with Riverview about combining recycling efforts? Not that our DPW on Van Horn is not a lovely place to visit and smell...but it would be easier and more convenient to take recycling to the Riverview landfill. We may get more participation...and citizens might recycle more if they knew we made money from the effort.

Great Idea Lynn,
Thousands of $$$ can be made. Just ask the landfill workers that recycle on their own.

Lynn, It has been talked about during our budget sessions. I will let our council know that you suggested it. I appreciate your ideas and suggestions. I might not be able to initiate them all, but we will do our best to see what we can do to better our community.
