Trenton police responded to a complaint from a 39-year-old woman who said her puppy was attacked by a pit bull at about 9:30 p.m. May 3 in the 3300 block of Middlefield.
The woman told police she was walking her 11-week-old German shepherd on the sidewalk when a pit bull attacked her puppy.
She said the pit bull came from the side of a nearby house and was not on a leash or chained up.
The pit bull bit the front back and shoulder area making the area tender to the touch, but did not break the skin, according to a report from the Trenton Police Department.
The woman said the dog’s owner, a 46-year-old woman, apologized shortly after the incident, and left before police arrived.
Police said they called the pit bull’s owner on her cell phone and left a message.
The woman who reported the dog bite said she planned to take her puppy to a veterinarian to have it checked out.
