A 56-year-old woman made a fraud complaint to Trenton police after she loaned over $14,800 to a man she met online at about 1 p.m. Nov. 17.
The woman told police she met a person who she believed to be a 50-year-old man on an online dating website called DateHookup.com.
After speaking to the man many times on the phone since September, the woman said he told her he had an oil rig and was getting some new contracts, but needed to pay $7,000 to get the contract and he couldn't get any of his money because he was on a ship, according to a Trenton police report.
The woman said she sent a MoneyGram to Nigeria for $7,000 and continued to send 14 additional MoneyGrams to two separate presumed business partners.
The woman told police she had no idea it was a scam and wishes to prosecute the individuals.
