While the true reason for two armed robberies in Trenton this week remains unknown, Trenton residents speculated Tuesday possible reasons for the recent crimes listed below:
Residents responded on the Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch Facebook page. Here are some potential reasons for the increase in armed robberies provided by local readers:
- Theresa Stillwagon Wolske DRUGS!
- Stasia Mike Lily Convery christmas time panic. people are out of work and think that this is the best way to provide for their family for the holidays. probably drugs too, or drugs are giving them the courage to even do something like this.
- Adrianna Mcdonald christmas, no work, no money, drugs, End of the world fears... We live in a terrible high stress time. It's terrible to see a woman standing on the corner of west and allen asking for money for rent in the freezing cold. Not enough money to go around but you better believe if I have bread on my table and a few extra dollars it will go to someone that needs it. There is not enough of that going around.
- Rose Farrer-Wade People are being pushed to the edge...No money, loosing jobs, cant pay rent, bein evicted, cant afford to give there kids a Christmas, lack of food to feed the children... They are taking desperate measures in order to survive...it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out.!! I dont agree with what they did, but, if I was pushed to the limit, I would do what I had to do for the sake of my children...I dont know that drugs were involved...but, with that put aside...economy has people not thinkin clearly...
