After each holiday season the Trenton City Beautiful Commission in partnership with DTE Energy honors four Trenton residents with the Home Decorating Award for having the best holiday decorations in the city.

This 2012 winners are:

• First place went to Debra and Phillip Messineo.
• Second place went to Annette and Mike David.
• Third place went to Tonya Bitner.
• Fourth place went to Jon and Lynn Plemmeons.

The awards were handed out at Monday's Trenton City Council meeting.

Debra Messineo and Annette and Mike David were on hand to accept their awards.

Messineo said her son played a big part in getting their house ready for the holidays.

"If I could just get my college son here to accept the award," Messineo said. "He's got too busy of a schedule, but he appreciates it."
