It doesn't matter if you're from Trenton, Grosse Ile, Transylvania or the Black Lagoon, the official Trick-or-Treat hours are the same -- 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31.
Tell us your Halloween memories! Did you have official Trick-or-Treating hours? What costumes were popular when you were a kid? Are the bags as full as they used to be? What's changed?

There were no store-bought costumes for us when I was little (in the 50s and early 60s). Part of the fun was going up into the attic to find the "old-clothes-box" and dig out what we could to make some kind of costume. Mostly we were beatnicks, hippies, bums, and even nuns.
And when it came time to trick or treat, hundreds of kids would be running around the neighborhood (not too many parents). The older kids watched the younger kids. And all through the neighborhood you'd hear the cries "H-E-L-P T-H-E P-O-O-R"

Cool story Joyce! I'm curious about something, why did you guys yell, "Help the poor?" -- NS
