The question is timely for two reasons:
- Under legislation that passed the House and Senate in Michigan this week, gun owners with concealed weapon permits could carry a gun into schools, daycares, hospitals or public arenas if they get extra training. The bill is awaiting Gov. Rick Snyder's signature, according to MLive.
- And on Friday, a gunman opened fire in a school in Newton, CT, killing at least 27 died in a shooting an an elementary school, including 18 children.

I can see no meaningful reason to pass such a bill let alone sign it into law.

Ron,
Can you please elaborate how perhaps one specially trained person who could have been in a position to stop, minimize, or delay such an attack is not meaningful?
Do you have another idea that could be immediately implemented such as this one that could save more lives sooner? I couldn't agree more that putting guns in schools is a terrible thought, but it could save lives immediately. I have a 3rd grader... I can't wait for gun law overhaul and mental health reform to keep her safe.
