School Canceled Wednesday for Trenton and Grosse Ile Public Schools

Heavy rain, sleet and snow beginning Tuesday afternoon caused many Michigan districts to cancel classes.

Trenton and Grosse Ile public schools were canceled Wednesday after rain, sleet and snow that began Tuesday afternoon covered most of southeast Michigan.

All school activities and events are canceled for both Trenton and Grosse Ile schools.

Nearly 500 school closings have been reported in the area, according to WDIV.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory Tuesday for southeast Michigan predicting a mixture of 2-4 inches of snow, sleet and rain.

Meanwhile the rest of society continues going about getting to work and school (college) as usual. When I was young and went to Anderson I can't ever remember having maybe more than one or two snow days. Is this the work ethic we are teaching our children? That when there is a little slush outside in SE Michigan in the winter that nobody has to go about their daily activities? How can the busses not make the rounds to get kids in a little snow - it seems like half the school gets dropped off individually anyway...
