Relay for Life Seeks Trenton, Grosse Ile Planning Committee
Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society's 24-hour national signature event and offers everyone in the community the opportunity to participate in the fight against cancer, according to the American Cancer Society.
Organizers of an annual Riverview-based Relay for Life event are seeking volunteers from Trenton and Grosse Ile to participate in a planning committee for next year's event.
Breanne Finkelberg, community representative for the American Cancer Society, said event organizers are making a strong push to include surrounding communities in the event.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 10 a.m. May 18-19, 2013 at Young Patriots Park in Riverview.
The American Cancer Society is seeking 15 to 20 volunteers to help plan next year's carnival-themed event.
Finkelberg said committee members should be passionate and interested in the fight against cancer.
Plans are in the initial stages and volunteers are being sought to fill several positions including, but not limited to, people to:
- Help make sure there are survivors at the event.
- Visit local businesses to seek ways of sponsoring the event.
- Get forms of entertainment to perform at the event.
- Get everyone to keep the mission of fighting cancer alive for the American Cancer Society.
