There are over 20 salons in Trenton, but only one was named after the owner's 18-year-old son.
Alexander Chase was about 10 years old when his mother, Kim Vadasy, decided to open Alexander Chase Salon.
The full-service salon has nine highly-educated stylists, and clients can get cuts, color, waxing, facials, manicures and pedicures according to Vadasy.
"We work as a team here," Vadasy said. "Teamwork is big in my salon."
Alexander Chase Salon was recently voted the best salon in the city by Trenton Patch readers.
Trenton Patch editor Nate Stemen sat down with Vadasy to find out what makes her salon so special.
Here are the questions followed by Vadasy's answers:
When did you open?
What sets you apart from other salons in Trenton?
"I think we have a lot of talented hairstylists with a lot of education. We have a new salon. We use the best products."
What kinds or products do you carry?
Moroccan Oil and Loreal Experte.
What's your salon's most important, interesting item or quality?
"The products, because there isn't a salon around here that carries these products."
What's so great about doing business in Trenton?
"My dad, Henry Vadasy, had a business here called Southland Construction.
"I worked in West Bloomfield, let's just say, for a really long time and I can honestly say that we have the greatest clients here. They're not rude. They're not on cellphones while you're doing their hair. We have great customer service and they really appreciate what we do for them."
