Petkov Hearing Adjourned Again
A hearing regarding personal protection order violations was adjourned for the second time Monday for Jennifer and Scott Petkov.
The saga from Detroit Street that became nationally known in 2010 continued to play out Monday as a judge adjourned a hearing regarding alleged personal protection order violations against Jennifer and Scott Petkov.
The case was adjourned until Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in room 907 of the Coleman Young Municipal Center.
The Petkovs each had two personal protection orders against them. The orders have since expired, and the hearing is set to see if the Petkovs violated the orders while they were still active.
The saga of the Petkovs and the Edward family gained national attention after Jennifer Petkov admittedly posted doctored photos on Facebook depicting then terminally ill 7-year-old Kathleen Edward and her deceased mother being embraced by the grim reaper and in a skull and crossbones.
Kathleen and her mother, Laura Edward, died of complications due to Huntington's Disease.
Popke adjourned the hearing for the second time. In December 2011, Popke listened to Kathleen's father, Robert Edward, 27, and grandmother, Rebecca Rose, 45, describe several disturbing comments directed toward them and their family on Facebook.
Kathleen's battle with Huntington's disease ended with her death on Jan. 11, 2012. Laura died from the disease on June 17, 2009.
*In a previous version of this story it said the personal protection orders were still active.
