NHL Star Andy Greene to be Honored at Trenton High School Hockey Game (UPDATED)
New Jersey Devils star Andy Greene helped win a state championship for Trenton High School in 1998 and was given the coveted title of Mr. Hockey in 2000.
Former Trojan and current National Hockey League (NHL) star Andy Greene will be at the Trenton High School hockey team's home opener for a jersey retirement ceremony starting at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 21 at Kennedy Recreation Center.
Greene's former jersey and number, 8, will be retired between the first and second periods of the game as the Trenton Trojans begin their 2012-13 hockey season against Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook.
Before Greene was a key player in the New Jersey Devils' trip to the Stanley Cup Finals last year, he was a Trojan. Greene played on the 1998 state champion team and was given the coveted tittle of Mr. Hockey in 2000, according to his former coach Mike Turner.
"With the NHL lock out we have a rare opportunity to have him in town for the start of our season," Turner said.
