There is a Qdoba that will be opening very soon in Taylor and there is a deli style sub shop near the corner of Allen and West roads. I do agree with Tracy, a nice Italian restaurant would be wonderful. Although, Wild Coney does have some wonderful salads and great soups. I order periodically for their Southgate location and have always been pleased with their food. And, yes, there are a few coney island restaurants in the area, however, there must have been a want for yet another or I do not believe Trenton would have approved it. Good luck to Wild Coney and I'm excited to see what the future holds for Trenton and more developing businesses!!!

I do believe it is located in Woodhaven, not Trenton. I do agree that we need some healthy choice restaurants in this area. But I'm sure that the CEO's of the better choice restaurants and grocery stores do not think that the downriver area is the right place for them. As previous reports from Trader Joes have stated.

Love wild coney! At all their other locations they have great wait staff and fast service. I'm sure this one will also.

Also like to add they have broke ground for construction of buffalo wild wings in front of lowes!

We are not offering the younger generation any healthy or even semi-healthy choices for eating. I agree with Marie, the perception is that Downriver is not the place for hip, new ideas for eateries. Local coney island eateries would be a far better choice, at least they get their produce, eggs, etc. locally. There's always Panera! Their business is booming.

Panera is way over priced and the food is not good.

No wonder Whole Foods and Trader Joes passed up on downriver. Our downriver city council administration is clearly conveying a message that this area is not their intended market for a fresh, health, alternative food source that could attract a younger generation with an education and money to spend. Had I not grown up in the area, I probably wouldn't have selected Trenton as my home. To me this shows that our area governments are more concerned with filling the vacancy with a tax revenue generating business than holding out for a better long term establishment.

What are they going to do with the vacant K-Mart property at West and Allen? I heard they are planning to build a new LA Fitness Gym there. Any truth to that? It's a prime piece of property. Hope it doesn't sit vacant and abandon long. Not what we need on a major corner like that.

I heard they were putting stores inside Kmart..like a mini mall. Scares me that it sounds a bit like a Gibralter Trade Center!

There was a story in the news herals a week or so ago about the kmart location. A big box store will take up most of the building while the other portion will be smaller retail. Also they proposed a fast food restaraunt in the parking lot with another stand alone building.

None of that sounds good for the area. In time it will become a blighted property with nothing to offer area residents.

LA fitness is going to be built between Kohls and Lowes

I've tried a lot of the Coney places around, but I prefer Wild Coney. I love their spinach and feta omelettes and their fish snack meals.

We need a Whole Foods downriver. We are missing out on new healthy choices.
