Grosse Ile resident who've been waiting for the new waterfront park to open need wait no longer.

A grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the park is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at the intersection of Grosse Ile Parkway and East River Road. It's a six minute walk to the park.

Phase one of the park is complete, clean-up and access, and park officials are seeking suggestions form residents for phase two. Cider and doghnuts will be served.

Park patrons can park in the Township owned parking lots on Macomb Street.

There is no charge for participation.
