Drunken Driver Found Sleeping at Trenton Intersection
The following information was supplied by the Trenton Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
Trenton police arrested a 49-year-old man after he fell asleep at the wheel, while stopped at a traffic signal at about 12:30 a.m. March 3 at the intersection of Van Horn and Fort.
Police said the man was unconscious and slumped over the wheel when officers found him with the driver's door locked and the car in drive. The car was not moving.
An officer knocked on the car window and, after several attempts, was able to awaken the man. The car began to roll as the man woke up and began staring at the ceiling, according to a Trenton police report.
The officer shouted for the man to stop and open the door. He complied.
The officer took the keys out of the ignition and arrested the man following a field sobriety test.
The man was taken to the Trenton Police Department and issued a citation for operating while intoxicated.
