Deer Falls Through Ice on Grosse Ile, Rescued by Emergency Personnel

Grosse Ile emergency personnel pulled a wet, cold deer from the frozen Thorofare Canal Wednesday, according to WXYZ.com

 

A female deer is alive today because of the quick thinking of the Grosse Ile police and fire departments.

A barking dog alerted emergency personnel to a deer struggling to climb out of the frigid waters of the Thorofare Canal on Wednesday, according to WXYZ.com.

Police say the crews were finally able to pull the deer to safety using water rescue equipment. The deer is now being treated at the Grosse Ile Animal Shelter for shock and hypothermia, according to the same source.
