New Comic Book Store Opens in Trenton
A new Comic City location in Trenton opened the doors for the first time to kick off the month of March.
Just four months after construction began, a new Comic City location opened as planned in the shopping plaza at West and Grange in Trenton.
Store owners Bob and Jill Smethers have three other Comic City locations in Canton, Pontiac and West Bloomfield. Stephanie Smethers, their daughter, is expected to run the day-to-day operations of the new location.
Look to Trenton-Grosse Ile Patch for more information on the new Comic City location including photos and a business profile detailing the store's owners and inventory.

Traditionally a few spaces in that strip have struggled to remain there for long. While I'm all about adding diverse businesses like this to the area, this is a niche business that could use some help. I'm not sure if Nate can engage the owners to be part of this site, but a suggestion I would like to pass along is this: (as cheesy as it is) taking from the show "The Big Bang Theory" the comic book shop owner often hosts events like halloween parties, themed "mixers" etc. I think if they followed suit they could build a better community following. Another idea, with me having a young girl, could be to host "comic book readings". Like in libraries, have a host pick a book once a week to read to kids - then afterwards they could coordinate an activity like talking about what happened, doing drawings of their own etc. Would be nice to see kids exposed to comic books much like I was when I was younger.
