An employee of St. Joseph Catholic Church reported to Trenton police that someone stole a bronze baby Jesus statue on display just outside the church sometime between Jan. 24 and 27.
The man said someone removed the statue from its base between two other statues.
The statue was anchored to the ground by a metal rod that the thief was able to overcome, according to police.
The statue had begun to oxidize and turn green and weighed about 100 pounds, according to the church employee.
