12th Congressional District: Meet the Candidates
Incumbent John Dingell faces Daniel Marcin in the Democratic Primary. Karen Jacobsen and Cynthia Kallgren will face off in the Republican Primary.

As longtime incumbent Congressman John Dingell seeks to become the longest-serving member of Congress with a reelection bid to his 30th term in office this year, three challengers are trying to unseat him.
Dingell, a Democrat, will face off against University of Michigan–Ann Arbor student Daniel Marcin in the Aug. 7 Democratic primary in Michigan's 12th Congressional District.
Republicans Karen Jacobsen and Cynthia Kallgren will face off in their own party's primary at the same time, with the top vote-getter from each party battling each other in the Nov. 6 general election.

The newly redrawn 12th District includes much of southeastern Wayne County, including Dearborn, Trenton and Wyandotte, as well as parts of Washtenaw County.

Dingell's 30th term ... that means 60 years in the Congress. Am I the only constituent that
feels that is WAY TOO LONG ????

Nope. I agree 100%. John Dingell still maintains the same platform he maintained for those 59 terms. Only thing though is his district has changed many times over.
I don't want a representative who stands on his time served in Congress, I want one who will do what's right for his district.

Dingell himself should realize its been long enough, and its time for a younger person to give it a shot, but he is either too bull headed, or too senile to face the facts.
